What-a-Mess

If I was to say to you “Price Amir of Kinjan”, what image would that conjure up in your mind? If I was to tell you that Prince Amir of Kinjan is not a dark-skinned rich royal but a scruffy Afghan hound puppy, would you believe me?
Well, I’m afraid you’re gonna have to believe me. Obviously “Prince Amir of Kinjan” is a bit of a mouthful, so a nickname is required, and his nickname of “What-a-mess” is well deserved.
As I said, “What-a-Mess” is a scruffy Afghan hound puppy, and not only is he not a pretty sight to see, but he’s also not blessed with brains. Not really onto a winner with this pup.
Each episode basically followed the adventures of the pup, and how he’s just a complete utter failure. Thinking about it, the way it’s presented is in many ways very similar to Roobarb and Custard. It has some great little sub-plots in it though. While we’re following the adventures of What-a-Mess, there’s a bunch of little people going about their own lives as well. While Frank Muir is explaining a scene to us, in the foreground the little people / animals are devising their own hilarious little storyline.
I’m actually having problems trying to put the programme into words. I’m afraid its just one of those shows that you’re going to have to see to believe. All I can say is that it’s pure genius.
